Is this right for you?

Who it suits

Before you book anything, a surgeon at an accredited hospital reviews your records to confirm it's safe to travel.

Usually a good fit

  • One or more missing teeth.
  • Teeth that need to come out, replaced with a fixed full-arch bridge.
  • Loose dentures you'd like to replace with something fixed.
  • Dental work quoted at $15,000 or more at home.

Wait, or get care at home

  • Diabetes that isn't under control.
  • Recent bone-strengthening drugs given by drip for cancer.
  • Gum disease that needs treating first.

Risks

What can go wrong, and what helps

Every operation has risks, wherever it's done. These are the main ones. Your surgeon will explain how they apply to you.

The main risks

  • Implant failure

An implant may not fuse with the bone, especially in smokers or with uncontrolled diabetes, and may need redoing.

  • Infection or swelling

Usually short-lived and treated with medicines.

  • Nerve injury

Rarely, numbness in the lip or chin after lower-jaw implants.

  • Sinus problems

With upper-jaw implants, particularly after a sinus lift.

What a planned trip does about travel

  • A written opinion first. A surgeon reviews your reports before you book anything, and can say no.
  • Time to recover before flying. Plans include days in India after discharge, and you only fly with your surgeon's fit-to-fly letter.
  • Clot prevention for the flight. Your surgeon advises on stockings, medicines and moving around. We can book aisle seats and wheelchair help.
  • Records your doctor can use. Discharge summary, scans, operation notes and implant details in English, before you leave.
  • Follow-up from home. Video check-ups with your surgeon, and a named person to call if something worries you.

Questions to ask your surgeon

  1. 1.Which implant brand will you use, and can dentists at home get parts for it?
  2. 2.Do I need bone grafting, and is it in the price?
  3. 3.Can it be done in one trip, or will I need two?
  4. 4.What warranty do you give, and how would a problem be fixed after I'm home?

Print them with our pre-travel checklist, or read how to check a hospital and surgeon yourself.

Technique & technology

How it's done

What you can expect at large accredited hospitals in Delhi NCR. Your surgeon will explain which approach suits you.

01

3D scan of your jaw

A CBCT scan shows how much bone you have and where nerves and sinuses are, so implants can be placed safely.

02

Surgical guides

For some cases a 3D-printed guide helps place the implant exactly where it was planned.

03

Crowns made on site

Many clinics have their own lab, so crowns can be made within days.

Questions

Questions about dental implants & full-mouth restoration

Can it really be done in a week?

For a single tooth with healthy bone, often yes. If you need bone grafting or a full mouth, it's usually two trips: one to place the implants, then another three to four months later for the permanent teeth.

Can my dentist at home look after the implants?

Yes. Brands like Straumann and Nobel Biocare are used worldwide, so dentists at home have the parts. You leave with a card listing the make and codes.

Planning this from abroad?

Prices are planning ranges from published hospital packages and cost research (2025–26), not quotes. Day plans are typical; your surgeon sets the real dates. General information, not medical advice. Last reviewed October 2026.
